FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

What personal items are we allowed to bring for our children?

All personal items must be well-labeled and taken home every Friday. Please do not bring toys, snacks, gum, lunches, or breakable items unless you have talked to the Director or Program Supervisor. Each class has a Show and Tell day and all items brought to the center must remain in your child’s bag. The center is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken items.

What clothing is available for children in case of accidents?

Precious Child Care and Preschool does not provide clothes in case of accidents. Please bring a set of extra clothes and shoes in case your child has an accident and needs to change. Please bring it in a backpack that will fit in the cubby provided. Please mark your child’s name with a permanent pen or label that is easy to find and read.

What clothing is appropriate for daytime at the center?

Please dress your child in play clothes and safe, comfortable shoes. Open-toed shoes and sandals are discouraged for safety reasons. Remember to bring jackets and any additional clothes necessary for the weather. The children are outside every day regardless of weather. If your child gets wet or muddy we will change them after recess.

Can I bring their favorite toys?

Children are encouraged to bring a small stuffed animal or blanket for nap times. We keep the rooms warm and a blanket is not needed for warmth but having a blanket from home is comforting to the children. We provide mats and sheets for the children to use. Each child has a cubby with their own mat and sheet. The Laundering of sheets is done weekly at the center by the staff. All blankets, pillows and stuffed animals need to be taken home on Fridays for cleaning and should be well labeled.

What children take naps?

Supervised rest periods are scheduled for all children and sheets and mats are provided. Please bring a well-labeled blanket for your child to use. If your child is older and does not take naps they still must rest and can participate in quiet, non-disruptive activities during this time.

Birthdays are important, can I bring treats?

We recognize that birthdays are important events in a child’s life and we celebrate them at PCCP. If you would like to provide treats for each child in your child’s class, please pre-arrange this with the teacher. There may also be certain items that are disallowed due to children with food allergies in the room.

What holidays are you closed?

How will we know if there are closures for snow or any other severe weather conditions?

If we are going to be closed a message will be left on the answering machine before 6:15 AM on the day of attendance so that you have time to make alternative plans if we need to close the center.
